Abstract

Recurrent pneumonia can be defined as two episodes of pneumonia in a year or three or more in any period, with radiographically resolution documented between episodes. A first episode of pneumonia can result in residual bronchiectasis and recurrent infections in the same location. Bronchiectasis is a chronic and progressive respiratory disorder in which the airways undergo an abnormal and irreversible dilation process. Many causes can lead to its development, and the patient usually has chronic airway symptoms, recurrent infections and tomographic changes compatible with the condition. In this report, is described the case of a 33-year-old male patient with complaints of recurrent episodes of cough, hemoptysis, dyspnoea and pain in the dorsal region of the left hemithorax, for 20 years. Bringing as objective the presentation of the report with concepts on the theme, in addition to the adopted conduct.
